Pioneer Weekend

We have been enjoying a great weekend so far. On Thursday we awoke bright and early to head for Salt Lake City to see the Days of 47 parade. The kids all enjoyed it... Spence and Carter particularly enjoyed the police motorcycle formations. After enduring the heat we went down to the Gateway to cool off in the fountains, shop and eat. Spence was a nut in the fountains.
When I could finally tear the menfolk away from shopping (ha!), we headed up to Salt Lake Community College to watch the Rocky Mountain Revue. For you non-Utahns, this is NBA summer league basketball. We first watched former Aggie Jaycee Carroll play for the Nets and then watched the Jazz hopefuls in the next game. Not too impressive in my opinion. However.....DREAMS DO COME TRUE!!! As many of you know Carter's favorite basketball player is Matt Harpring. He happened to be commentating for the game and the boys got to meet and photo with him. Also the camera man spotted Carter in his Harpring jersey and Carter was on TV... he's a star.... his moment of fame!!!

At about the 4 hour mark Hattie got a bit restless and she and I enjoyed the rest of the night in the hall. Austin couldn't tear himself away until that final buzzer sounded.

Friday brought more family fun... We went to the North Ogden Aquatic Center. It was a perfect place to spend a blastin' hot summer day. It includes a water slide, a lazy river, a spray/fountain kid area, a 1 1/2 foot deep toddler pool, a couple of diving boards and a large playground in the water. The boys and Hattie loved it!!! It really was the perfect place for families with kids our ages.
