Green Canyon Campout

Last weekend we had the chance to go camping. Yay!!! We went up Green Canyon and found a perfect little spot. The Thatchers were able to join us and we all had a jolly time! Friday night we were able to go Mountain Biking (my first time on a real "trail"). Austin and Carter did great and made it all the way down the trail without any major biffs.

We enjoyed a campfire, smores and a fabulous night in our tents.

Hattie was unfathomly dirty and happy as could be the whole time. There was a path close to our campsite that had a thin layer of fine gravel. She loved to sift her hands through it and even laid down on her tummy and seemed to be swimming in it... go figure.

On Saturday morning Morey took Austin and Carter for another bike ride. I took Hattie and Spencer for a walk up the trail. We had a near-death experience and I realized how fast my brain works when it needs to. We were on a very narrow portion of the trail and had a bit of a traffic jam. A mountain biker was coming down the path and two horseback riders were coming up the path. We were in between. The biker stopped and went off the trail up the slope and we went off the trail down the slope in order to let the horses pass. Not a smart move to be down slope from horses on a narrow path. One of the horsed got spooked and started to slide toward us. In that split second I had a full escape route formed in my mind. We were able to move behind a patch of trees until the horses were under control and moved on out. Needless to say, we survived! This photo is another spot on the trail. I learned my lesson. This time we moved up slope to let others pass by.
A fun time was had by all and I have vowed to do the camping thing more often We live in such a wonderful area with beautiful places to go.
