He's a Star!

Carter's First Grade Class participated in the Opera for Children program which is run through the Utah Festival Opera Company. The children create the story, write the words, compose the music, paint the scenery, and practice, practice, practice. I thought the whole process involved so much creativity! The story was very well put together, made sense, and was very enjoyable to watch.

Carter's class opera was entitled, "The Biggest Game of the Year." Each student "tries out" for a part. Carter was chosen to be the Coach of the Aggies. Several weeks before the performance he brought home a CD with the music and words. I think we all knew every word by the time of performance. Even Hattie walked around singing, "Oh, no! Oh, no! The footballs and pom-poms are gone!" His teacher asked me to accompany the opera so I got the chance to spend some time with Carter and his class preparing for the big event.

On April 23rd his class performed for the school during the
day and had an evening performance for the families. He did such a great job! He knew every word and sang his heart out. It was really fun to see him do something outside his comfort zone and do so well.
